objectives

 

The main objective of this project is the development at an european level, of the institutional frame offered by the Interdisciplinary Research and Development in the field of Archaeology Platform within the Al.I.Cuza University of Iasi, in order to conduct research in an interdisciplinary spirit in the field of archaeology and of the national cultural heritage conservation, as well as for the training of future specialists. The end result of these researches is the reconstruction of the history of ancient times, for which, in general, we do not have written sources and documents. Researches of this kind include: the reconstruction of the physical (geographic, hydrologic, climate etc.) and biologic (flora, fauna) environment, of the habitat, spiritual and material way of life, of social structures and the population itself, creator of culture and civilization, and also it includes absolute dating.

To these general objectives we add several specific objectives:
A. Scientific Research Objectives (SRO)
1. The development of archaeological research in Romania by relating to the newest methods of archaeological research.
2. The development of interdisciplinary researches in archaeology: archaeozoology, archaeobotanics, paleoanthropology, cultural anthropology, etnoarchaeology, paleopedology, sedimentology, paleopalinology, paleoclimatology, paleohidrology, petrography, archaeotopography, archaeophysics, experimental archaeology.
3. The development of interdisciplinary laboratories which allow the conducting of interdisciplinary research in archaeology, but also in other scientific fields.
4. The development of new interdisciplinary and archaeological research methods in the field of archaeology.
5. The development of new methods in the conservation and preservation of cultural and archaeological heritage.
6. The formation of a staff of experts in archaeology and in adjacent fields of archaeology (physics, biology, geology, mineralogy, petrography, metallurgy, anthropology, forensic sciences, history, engineering and environment science, sociology, psychology, informatics etc.).

B. Educational Objectives (EO)
1. Assuring the scientific frame necessary for the affirmation of young didactic academics, found in different stages of learning, through participating to interdisciplinary researches in the field of archaeology and the use of resources offered by the platform laboratories.
2. Sustaining the development of existing MA and PhD schools by offering research capabilities in laboratories, for the formation of young researchers as specialist.
3. The interdisciplinary formation and perfection of all which wish to specialize in archaeology and in adjacent domains of this historic science (muzeographs, archaeologists, biologists, geographers, physicists, restorationists, conservationists), in the spirit of perpetual education principle.

C. Organizational and Integration Objectives (OIO)
1. The organization, within Al.I.Cuza University of Iasi, of a special department for interdisciplinary research in archaeology and archaeological and cultural heritage conservation.
2. Respecting of all norms and laws effectual in Romania regarding scientific research and professional deontology.
3. The integration in existing national interdisciplinary research structures (BCUM Alba Iulia, Pluridisciplinary Research Center from within the National History Museum of Romania).
4. The integration in european interdisciplinary research structures (UISPP, ICAZ).
5. The European Integration of higher learning education system and of the scientific research in conformation with the Bologna Convention.
