Alin Mihu-Pintilie is a geographer interested in advanced spatial analysis using GIS software, especially for bathymetric mapping and underwater archaeology. He is a specialist in continental and oceanic sea diving since 2008 (Naui Worldwide Patent). He has been part of numerous geographical and archaeological expeditions in different parts of Eurasia (Danube Delta, Black Sea, Baltic Sea, Southern Siberia) and the North Atlantic (Iceland).

Author and co-author of 27 scientific papers, from which 10 are indexed on ISI Web of Science (18 ISI Web of Science citations and an h-index of 3 – November 2015) and 20 are on Google Scholar (54 Google Scholar citations and an h-index of 5 – November 2015).

53 scientific presentations and congresses participation (in geography, hydrology, geomorphology, natural hazards, geoarchaeology and archaeology fields) in countries like: Romania, Taiwan, Germany, Bulgaria, Greece, Italy, Turkey, Austria, Japan, Macedonia.

Member in 6 national research projects / contracts: 1 on the position of Assistant Researcher (Non-destructive investigations in complex archaeological sites. An integrated model of applied research of the immobile cultural heritage – PROSPECT, CNCS–UEFISCDI Grant 2014-2016) 2 on the position of PhD student, 2 on the position of GIS expert and 1 on the position of expert in protected areas.
